KSL training

KSL offers mental health training and development services to organisations

Our standard courses help individuals in a wide range of settings and sectors to gain mental health related knowledge and skills. We can also design and deliver bespoke courses for organisations upon request.

By contrast, Mental Health First Aid Lite (MHFA Lite) is another new mental health 'taster' training course designed to raise awareness and help anyone managing, supporting or volunteering for others to better understand the mental health of those people they work with.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised course that teaches anyone with a responsibility for others how to provide initial support to those who may be experiencing mental health problems.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (Youth MHFA) training is internationally recognised and recently adapted for England; the course teaches adults how to provide initial support to young people experiencing mental health problems. We helped MHFA England pilot and evaluate this programme and are now providing it as an open course and for organisations.

The Training Effect is joining KSL to promote Drugs and Alcohol First Aid (DAAFA), an interactive workshop training for helpers to screen, support and motivate adults or young people who misuse substances, so they gain a greater understanding of harm.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is interactive workshop training for caregivers to intervene and prevent the immediate risk of suicide. Ideal for those who have (Y)MHFA or similar training.

Resilient Social Workers support: Our latest courses with coaching have been aimed at helping organisations to recruit and retain qualified professionals. So far, we have researched and designed a new solutions-focused workshop and follow-up session for hard-pressed social workers in statutory children and families services in the UK. Our aim is to support and build professionals' resilience, and thereby help public service managers retain them.

One of our KSL instructors is delivering the new Trauma Stress Reaction (TSR) course to more experienced workers. This is in response to concern for the increasing number of people affected by post traumatic stress, resulting from victims of abuse as children, to psychologically scarred forces personnel. MHFA England are currently trialling this programme.

We also design and deliver bespoke courses for children and young people's organisations and partnerships.
